Welcome to our December Newsletter, featuring news about the latest ClipMate 7 update, and a ClipMate usage tip.
The latest release is version 7.1.06. ClipMate 7 users can download it by running the update check, or from this link: http://www.thornsoft.com/dist/ClipMate.exe
This is a free update for registered users of ClipMate 7.0 or 7.1. If you are still running version 6, you can still take advantage of the $19.95 single-user upgrade pricing by following this link: http://www.thornsoft.com/ClipMate7_Upgrade_Offer.htm Version 5 users can also get a price break when upgrading by following this link: http://www.thornsoft.com/email4527.htm
While ClipMate's single-user license allows you to run the same license on up to two computers, sometimes your needs grow. Our "Household Pack" allows home users to run ClipMate on up to 5 computers. We also have multi-user discounts for workgroups and businesses of any size. Sometimes the pricing gets tricky when you are expanding or upgrading multi-user licenses, so send us an e-mail: sales@thornsoft.com and Brenda can prepare a custom quote for upgrading your license, taking into account what you've already purchased.
Back by popular demand is our "Give the Gift of ClipMate" this holiday season! If you are a registered user of ClipMate, we invite you to give a gift copy to a friend... at a very special price of $19.95 (that's $15 off)! You can add a CD for $9.95 (includes shipping). If you don't need a CD (or don't have time because you waited too long), we'll be sending out e-mail confirmations right up until Christmas Eve for on-time email delivery! Our online ordering system can even let you include a personal message with your gift, whether it's sent by email or snail mail.
Are your digital photos just sitting around collecting digi-dust?
It's time to do something AMAZING with them. You can make posters of
any size in just minutes, showing up to 100 photos, and it already knows how
to print them online. Check out this page for a screenshot of our
"Denver Family Vacation" poster, and give it a try. We've negotiated a $5.00
discount for ClipMate Newsletter subscribers. Details are here:

Problems with CA Antispyware continue, and now AOL has adopted CA's PestPatrol for inclusion into their "Safety and Security Center". This can result in such errors as: "This program has been damaged..", "error Unpacking Program Lp5", or "ERROR: 53 File not found: ArmAccess.DLL".
The Antispyware is attaching itself to ClipMate, intercepting several DLL
functions that it uses to detect attempts to crack the program (like a
software pirate would). The vendor of the protection library
(Armadillo by Silicon Realms Toolworks) is trying to resolve this, but the
fix ultimately needs to come from CA. Here is an article with more
information:

Back in the June newsletter, we talked about the ability to use the outbound clip filtering to place a text-only or bitmap-only version of the clip onto the clipboard. It's time for an update! ClipMate 7.1 gives you the capability to filter the clipboard "on demand" by pressing the Win+W (Windows logo key, usually next to the left CTRL or ALT key, plus W). When you press Win+W, you'll hear the "whoosh" sound, letting you know that the current clipboard contents have been replaced by a plain-text (or plain-bitmap, if it's a graphic) version of the clip. Now you can paste as "plain text", even if the target program doesn't normally know how to do that.
This is very handy when you paste something and get unwanted tables and formatting, such as when copying from a web page and pasting into a word processor, for example. If you've ever had your fonts and document style "hijacked" by pasting from a web page, you're going to love this feature.
Tip-Within-A-Tip: You can use the "Windows" key in any of the assignable global hotkeys. See Tools | Options | Hotkeys. Plus, version 7.1 has several new hotkey functions, such as "Toggle Auto-Capture" and "Manual Capture".
Helmut Langen has resumed work on the German/Deutsch translation, taking over from Dieter Hummel. We hope to have his updated translation available before the end of the year.
We have
two multi-language distributions, one for European (French, Czech,
Polish, Italian, Dutch, German, Russian, Turkish)
and one for Asian languages (Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional,
Korean). They can be downloaded here:
