Jan 26, 2005Welcome to our January Newsletter, featuring news about the latest ClipMate update, good news for Russian and Turkish users, a Special Offer, and as always, a ClipMate usage tip. Newsletter Contents:
ClipMate 6.5 - Ready Now!ClipMate 6.5 adds Search & Replace to the editor, including a "RegEx"
option. And have you ever wanted to paste a clip as plain text without
all of the formatting that often accompanies data copied from web pages and
word processors? The new "outbound clip filter" will allow you to
easily paste any (non-graphic) clip as plain text, without destroying the
original HTML and Rich Text formats. It also has a new "URL Crunch"
feature, which will re-wrap a badly wrapped URL.
ClipMate Tip - e-mailing screen capturesYou probably already know that ClipMate will capture the screen when you press the PrintScreen key (whole desktop) or Alt+PrintScreen key (current window). But you can also export them for easy sending via e-mail. Many of you resort to pasting graphics into a program like Word, saving as a file, and then sending that. But it's much easier to just export the files directly from ClipMate. ClipMate can export graphic files directly to JPEG files, by using File | Export Clips. Just select the clip(s) that you want to send, then File | Export. Select the option to save Bitmap files as JPEG, and also the option to "open export folder when finished". Click OK, and you should now be looking at the disk folder, containing your exported files. Now you can drag those into most e-mail programs, and the ones that don't support drag 'n' drop, can usually attach a file via a menu - just attach the file from the export directory. Now you can send those files as JPEG, without having to worry about the extra file bloat from Word documents, etc. Another tip: don't bother trying to save space by ZIP-ing jpeg files. They're already compressed, and are fine to send as-is. For more information in exporting, and screen capture, read these topics:
TranslationsTranslations for Russian and Turkish are ready, Chinese (Traditional and Simplified) and German are a few weeks away, and work has begun on French, Portuguese, Slovak, and Chinese. Visit this page to download translations: http://www.thornsoft.com/lang/index.htm Mozilla / Firefox - Source URLAre you a Firefox user? You will notice that ClipMate doesn't
pick up the "source url" from Firefox. This is a shortcoming in Firefox,
and there is a bug, and even a FIX for it. However, it's not in the
shipping Firefox product. Monitor progress on this FireFox/Mozilla
feature here: UPDATING
That's it for now! As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions.
