Original thread: ClipMate is dead - let's free ClipMate!

Chris Thornton wrote:
I do keep working on ClipMate when I can. But days like this make me wonder why.

No, sorry folks, this is not about a new ClipMate version...

But hopefully the title of this thread is tempting enough for Chris to read it... His last post was early March.

Chris,
As you can see - this forum is still quite active.

Even though there are a lot of free (or cheaper) clipboard managers around, we all here were nonetheless prepared to pay the relatively high price for ClipMate.

The reason why is simple: because we won't accept anything less than the best!!

For me, I truly believe that ClipMate is still, by far, the best clipboard manager and like most of us, I never regretted to have paid for this fantastic product.

I also believe that I may be speaking for most of us when saying that I feel sorry to see this product slowly die ...

It is for that reason I 'ClipMated' above statement hoping that one day you will be surprising your ClipMate-fans with a new version!
(Likely there is enough for that in on the wishlist)

Thanks for your support Chris!

I don't think an intelligent and talented person like Chris would be well motivated by prodding and cajoling.

Having been a loyal ClipMater since the early versions, I have enjoyed every new release and looked forward to them with great anticipation.

Like others, I have missed the extraordinary development pace of yesteryear. But if that has changed, I am perfectly able to understand that nothing goes on forever. Give the guy a break.

Chris, if you are able to find another round of motivation within you to do some more of your fabulous magic on CM, then there are many out here who would applaud you. If that is not in the cards in your life, then there are many out here who can understand. Either way, there are many who support you no matter what you decide to do with your life.

Thank you for the wonderful contribution you have made to the world of computing!

Whew. Stop kowtowing and being so obsequious. Plain & simple, Thornton left us all high and dry.

I don't want to hear his whining or excuses. If he can't get his arse in gear and come up with a new release after 3 years, then sell the damm program to someone who cares. Or be charitable and open-source it so someone can carry on the development.

@quinta - You clearly don't understand the meaning of kowtowing. Suggest looking it up.

As for Thorton's trials & tribulations - why should we care? If you can't do the work , then turn the job over to someone else.

If you work for a boss, what do you think his reply would be when you whine that you feel unloved and demotivated? He'll show you the door and tell you to go file for unemployment.

Thorton's been collecting new registration money for years, but producing nothing in return.

He should put a message on the download section of his webpage saying in big block letters that "Clipmate development has been terminated - Use this program at your own risk".
