I did a search for "plain text" in both the knowledgebase and forums before posting this. It seems like a common enough question the answer probably exists somewhere, but I didn't find it, so no flames please. Just point me in the right direction.

I commonly copy something and then paste it in to NOTEPAD, then copy that and paste it as plain text to remove the formatting. I use evernote quite a bit, and while it claims to have a "plain text" paste (control-shift-v), it will still put urls and other "hidden" text in a paste, just as plain text. I often want to just highlight something and paste the actual text I copied. Using the NOTEPAD route works just fine.

Is there a simple way to setup ClipMate to do this same thing with a hotkey? I realize what a newb question this probably is, but I really did spend a little time trying first before posting this.

I have a similar problem with a web site whose data I copy into ClipMate and then paste into a Microsoft Excel worksheet. Excel doesn't like the commas and the dollar signs in the data from the web site so once I copy it into ClipMate, I need to clean it up so Excel will accept it. To do this, I use a ClipMate function called Edit/Clean-Up Text ... (Alt-E then L then Return to OK) This ClipMate function allows you to strip (leading/trailing/anywhere) characters from each line (e.g., I strip the leading spaces, tabs, and $ sign from each line and the comma sign from anywhere from my Excel example). It also allows you to remove line breaks with each paragraph, change the case within the clip, and perform a single find/replace operation within the clip. :D

When working with Microsoft software, Word in particular, I find it easier to set a hotkey within the software for the "past ASCII" or "paste text" function, or whatever they call it in Word and Excel.

Outside of Office, I usually rely on macro software, such as Macro Express, to manipulate text clips, stripping out line breaks and performing case conversions, all of which are possible within ClipMate, but not through hotkeys..

Features like this would be a very good addition to another version of ClipMate. Adding more function on this front would certainly persuade me to part with an upgrade fee.
